Funeral services for Huss Standifer will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Monty Baggett officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park under the direction of Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home.

He was born to the late William Newton and Sarah Standifer on Feb. 11, 1916, in Johnson County. He died Oct. 11, 1998, at his residence.

He married the former Oteka Shebester on March 21, 1950, at Gainesville, Texas.

Mr. Standifer was a rancher and former Carter County District 1 County Commissioner having served as such for 28 years, from 1958 to 1986. He served with the Army during World War II, having fought in the Pacific Theatre. He had lived in Ardmore area most of his life and was a member of Ardmore Masonic Lodge, received his 50-year pin.

He is survived by his wife, Oteka, of the home; daughters, Judy Johnson of Lebanon, Cathy Spikes of Ardmore, and Laura Moore also of Lebanon; a brother, J.W. Standifer of Sulphur; sisters, Marie Palmer of Yucaipa, Calif., Estelle Edwards of Ardmore, and Wanda Brick of Riverside, Calif.; six grandchildren, Cody and Tosha Spikes, Wesley, Lucas and Adrian Johnson and Carly Moore.

Pallbearers will be Bill Elliott, Randy Hicks, Keith Gray, LeLand Walker, Bobby Townley and W.C. Jordan. Honorary bearers are Harold Rudd, Joe Brown, Tommy Howard, Dan Harris, Eldon Hamilton, Jack McClure, Vance Lollis and Creede Speake.
