He graduated Decatur High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked for Imperial Fabrication for many years as a forklift operator, and was a member of St. John's Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie Scott and Irene Mornes; grandson, Beckett Driver; brothers, Ed Mornes, and Edward Mornes, Michael Dewayne Mornes; and sisters, Lottie Mae Mornes, and Bobbie Jean Mornes. Survivors include his wife of more than 48 years, Annette Driver of Decatur; four daughters, Nicole Driver, Dominique Sothard, Brittany Driver, and Hattie Wilbanks; three sons, Artabus Driver, Joe "Bug" Driver, Jr., and Joe William Driver; grandchildren, Sha'Tequa Driver, Artabus "AJ" Driver, Dezirae Seagroves, Zahrea Driver, Ka'Trevion Alexander, Cameron Driver, Tamara Driver, and Rory Driver; one great-granddaughter, Iris Driver; and brother, Willie George Mornes.
