Grace (Sally) Smith passed away peacefully on October 30, 2021, in Spokane, WA. She was born on August 17, 1933, and was called "Sally" from birth. Her parents, Walter and Pearl (Mona) Stuart, resided in Valdez, AK, along with her older brothers David, Earl and Warren. At the age of 3 her family moved to Ketchikan, AK, where she attended school, graduating in 1951 as Valedictorian of her high school class.

One month after graduation, Sally accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and Lord through the ministry of Youth for Christ. This decision changed her life's focus and her commitment to Jesus was a major part of her entire life.

Sally attended Seattle Pacific College on a full two-year scholarship.

In 1953, Sally married and was blessed with three children; Gary Cardiff (Palm Desert, CA), and twins Jeanine Cardiff (Port Angeles, WA), and JaJa Cardiff-Kulikov (Polson, MT).

Always active in her church ministries and interested in international foreign missions, Sally moved to Sunnyvale, CA when she became single in 1975. She became an Executive Secretary in the world-wide missionary organization, Overseas Crusades (now OC International).

In 1977 Sally met and married Fred Smith of Spokane, WA. It was truly a "match made in Heaven." Fred had three children of his own; Debi Ford (Ames, IA); Susan Fenton (Makawao, HI), and Bob Smith (Whidbey Island, WA). The six children and their families were one of the great joys and blessings of Sally's life.

Sally and Fred enjoyed many years of service in various ministry responsibilities in two Spokane churches. Her interest in foreign missions was a passion all her life.

Although raised in Alaska, Sally had not fished until her marriage to Fred. Her first experience ocean fishing was on their honeymoon in Westport, WA, on their way to his home in Spokane. Sally caught four King Salmon the first day fishing, and she was "hooked" for the next 44 years. Sally's "claims to fame" were her 113 Halibut and 46 King Salmon. She enjoyed fishing so much her car license plate was "WEFISH1".

At her 75th birthday party in 2008, Sally shared her life's highlights with her family, including her deep love for, and relationship with, her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; her "awesome" husband Fred, who so richly blessed her life; and her family, who shared their love and care for her through the years.

One of the annual goals Sally and Fred set for themselves was seeing each of their six children and their families at least once a year – a goal they accomplished with few exceptions.

Sally's love of music was also a great passion in her life. She loved accompanying her brother Earl's beautiful tenor voice on the piano while her brother Warren played the organ. She played both the piano and organ. Sally also loved and appreciated her circle of friends and was a gifted hostess, enjoying entertaining and playing pinochle.

Sally was preceded in death by her husband Fred, who passed away July 30, 2021. Sally is survived by her six children and their families including six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

One of Sally's greatest desires was to live her life with integrity. Her hope was that she would be remembered for this, along with her love for the Lord and His Word.

A memorial service honoring Sally's life will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021, 10:30am at Northview Bible Church, 13521 N. Mill Rd, Spokane. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an organization that Sally cared about that provides mobility to people with disabilities: The Inland Northwest Trinity Project, (509) 466-3425.
