Mount Carmel – Robert W. Kramer passed away on Feb. 16, 2022.

Bob was the only son of the late Frances (Kozlowski) and Roy Kramer. He was born on Oct. 26, 1936 in Trevorton, then moved to Coal Township in 4th grade. He graduated from Coal Township High School in 1956, then worked at Czarneski's and Little Bear until he served his country in the Army from Nov. 1959 to Feb. 1962.

Bob and his fiancé, the former Virginia Darrup, were married on April 28, 1962 by Bishop Lawrence F. Schott in Our Lady's Church. Bob worked at Little Bear Supermarket in Mt. Carmel for 36 years and was well-known, and liked, as "Bob the Butcher."

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by, and was the devoted and beloved father of 3 children: Diane Ferster of Loganton. She and her husband John have 3 children, Zack, Nate and Kate. Denise Sobolewski of Mechanicsburg, has 2 children, Benjamin and Robert; and Robert Kramer of Lansdale, who with his wife Marie have 2 children, Julia and Ryan. Bob truly enjoyed spending many happy hours with his seven grandchildren, and they with him. Bob was a lifelong and loyal supporter of all Pittsburgh teams: Penguins, Steelers, Pirates, and Panthers – not an easy thing to do among so many Philly fans.

People heading to work along the Centralia Highway among the wee hours became familiar with the little guy chug-chugging along. Bob ran whenever weather (and his body) permitted, for many years. He entered numerous races, garnering a multitude of 1st and 2nd place medals and trophies. Bob was a blood donor his whole life. He received a 10 gallon (80 pints) medal from the Red Cross, and added additional medals to that. Bob volunteered for many years at Our Lady's Summer Festival, assisting his wife at bingo and other church fundraisers.

In addition to his wife/children/grandchildren, Bob is survived by a sister‑in‑law Dorothy (Darrup) Longo, and brother‑in‑law Jim Darrup and wife Cathy. Bob was the most extraordinary of ordinary men – what in Yiddish is called a "mensch." Not a great man, but rarer still, a good one – there is nothing greater.
