Robert C. Hopkins, Jr., 68, unexpectedly passed away on February 16, 2022, at home. Bob was born in Colorado Springs, CO to Robert Sr. (Hoppy) and Virginia (Ginny) Hopkins on February 10, 1954. Bob is survived by his son, Scott (Jenn) of Baldwinsville; sister, Theresa West (Mark) of Fairmount; brother, Michael (Leslie Cadden) of Lake Winola, PA; his longtime partner, Emily Yakawiak of Jamesville, her children, and grandchildren. Bob was a graduate of Jamesville-DeWitt High School where he played both varsity baseball and basketball. He continued his education at Clarkson University where he earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering and a Master's of Business Administration. Bob returned to Syracuse after college where he worked for Allied Chemical Plant in Jamesville followed by a long career with Syracuse University. He retired from the University as the Operations Manager for the CASE Center, assisting the local business community in engaging with university students. In his retirement, Bob continued to give back to his community volunteering with both the Jamesville Community Museum and Fiddlers Green Park. Bob was an enthusiastic supporter of Syracuse University athletics as a season ticket holder for both football and basketball. He also had a passion for the hockey program of his alma mater, Clarkson University. Bob was an avid golfer and could be found on the course at Drumlins most days of the week, regardless of the weather. He will be missed by all that he touched. Calling hours will be held at Our Lady of Hope Church, 4845 S. Salina Street, Syracuse on Monday, February 21, from 9:30 – 11:45 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:45 AM followed by interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. A celebration of his life will continue at the Jamesville Fire Department on Monday from 1:00 – 3:00 PM. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
