YNN – Kenneth "Ken" Frederick Mitchell, 83, of Peabody, formerly a longtime resident of Lynn, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at his home in Brooksby Village, Peabody. Ken was a devoted husband to the late Geraldine "Gerri" Gladys (Cronin) Mitchell for almost 61 years of marriage. Born, raised and educated in Lynn, Ken was the son of the late William and Muriel (Coburn) Mitchell. Ken was a graduate of Lynn Tech class of 1957.
Ken proudly served in the Navy from 1959 to 1962 which included the time of the Cuba missile crisis. After the Navy Ken joined Boston Gas where he worked for his entire career until his retirement. Ken attended Calvary Christian Church, Lynnfield and was a past long time member, choir member and board member of the First Assembly of God Church in Lynn. Ken was a longtime member of the National Precious Moments Collectibles Association and very much enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, Gerri, on the Association's annual cruises, especially to the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. Ken's hobbies included fishing, oil painting, watching war movies and collecting guns particularly ones of historical significance. Ken was a member of the Danvers Fish and Game club. Most of all he loved spending time with his entire family, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
At the request of the family, masks will be required to attend the wake and funeral services. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, February 20th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. His funeral service will be held on Monday, February 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Christian Church, Lynnfield, officiated by Rev. Timothy Schmidt, please meet at the church. Burial will follow at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
