John Combs, age 90 of Xenia, passed away Sunday February 13, 2022 at the Hospice of Dayton. He was born March 6, 1931 in Knott Co., Kentucky, the son of the late Dennis and Hattie (Kelly) Combs.

John was employed in shipping and receiving at Duriron, retiring in 1988 after 30 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his orchard.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Laura in 2020; two brothers, Arlos and Pete; and a sister, Ruth.

Survivors include a son, Palmer Combs; two daughters, Darlene (Howard) Longworth, Carol (Robert) Kissell; grandchildren, Aron J. Combs, Shellie (Jason) Shock, Laura (Michael) Reinsch; Sara (Jerod) Nelson; numerous great-grandchildren; two great great-granddaughters; three sisters, Linda (Richard), Shirley (Homer), Eileen; two brothers , Mark and Howard; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

A funeral service will be held on Friday February 18, 2022 at 12:00 noon at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Byron Cemetery.
