He graduated from Harrison High School in 2002 and was a third generation Cox family graduate from Purdue University with a degree in Organizational Leadership and Supervision. He excelled as a technology professional and spent numerous years working for Rest Assured in Lafayette. He had a passion for video games, and became a Staff Writer for Game Chronicles Magazine, writing over sixty video game reviews and traveling to numerous conventions as a member of the press. He shared this passion with his cousin Robby Riley, who was more like a brother and served as best man in his wedding.
He took joy in participating in the aviation community, often accompanying his father while flying and attending aviation events. He volunteered with the local Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) chapter at Young Eagles events where youth were able to experience their first flight in a general aviation aircraft. Roger was an avid Purdue University football and basketball fan, backing the black and gold through thick and thin. He also loved following the Colts, Cubs, and Diamondbacks. His final contribution was that of an organ donor.
On May 19, 2012, Roger married Jaime Hartman in Lafayette and they welcomed son Andrew Gilbert in 2017. Andrew was the center of Roger's world and Andrew adores his Daddy.
Surviving are wife Jaime (Hartman), son Andrew, and parents John and Carol of West Lafayette. Also surviving is sister Emily Elia (husband Matt) of Barnstable, MA, and aunt and uncle Bonnie and Tom Riley. Roger was preceded in death by his two sets of grandparents, Eugene and Elinor Cox and Robert and Esther Garrison.
