Robert Battaglia was the Stage doorman at Rochester, NY's Auditorium Theater on East Main Street. He was well known among stars who toured the theater circuit for more than five decades. He was known as a fixture of the Rochester, NY theater and was revered by touring companies and stars worldwide. He always wanted all to feel welcome, and ensured only the best treatment for the stars of the stage. In the 1950s Bob managed multiple theaters for RKO and Walter Reade Theaters in New York City. During his tenure here, Bob became a friend and associate of the late Judy Garland whom he accompanied along three of her tours. In 1978 Bob came to Rochester and officially became the events director of the Masonic Temple Civic Center (Original name for Auditorium Theater) until 1999 when RBTL purchased the Auditorium Theatre. It was then that he would create the position of Stage Doorman for himself to continue the tradition of providing a touch of class to the theater. Bob also served as the Box Office agent for Rochester Theater Organ Society at the Auditorium Theater and was an active member of the organization. Robert passed away on September 17, 2016.
