Rodney Joel Smith passed away on Saturday, February 12th, 2022, at ContinueCare Hospital, in Tyler, Texas.
He was born on August 15th, 1935, in Tyler, Texas to Cushi and Pauline Smith.
Rodney Smith attended school in Bullard, Texas and Lansing, Michigan before enlisting in the United States Army. He served at various US Army Bases in the United States and in Korea, Vietnam, and Germany. After retiring from service, he received his bachelor's degree in Social Studies from Rowan University, New Jersey and returned to his hometown of Tyler where he worked as a salesman. Rodney Smith lived a long and fulfilling life as a cherished husband and loving father to his four children until his death at eighty-six.
Rodney Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Cushi and Pauline Smith, and his brother, George Sydney Smith.
Rodney Smith is survived by his wife, Ingrid Smith of Tyler; Texas, his children, Charles Lee Smith of Tyler; Barbara Jo Smith of Atlanta, Georgia; Alan James Smith of Washington, D.C.; and Pamela Mackay of Tyler; and his grandchildren, Abigail JoVee Dixon; and Caden James Mackay.
Memorial Services to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
