Claude Young Woolfolk
He died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008, at 3:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. He was born in Zachary on Dec. 12, 1927, the son of Richard Gordon Woolfolk Sr. and Eunice Lilley Young Woolfolk. Visitation will be on Friday, Nov. 14, at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Harold Babin. Interment services will be at Young Family Cemetery, Zachary. Claude joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 where he served in World War II. He was the co-founder of Continental Auto Sales of Baton Rouge, the original Volkswagen agency in this area, and the owner of Woolfolk Volkswagen in Lafayette. He was also the owner of Cajun Country Smoke House in Lafayette. Preceded in death by his parents; son, Claude Y. Woolfolk Jr.; brothers, Richard Gordon Woolfolk Jr. and Warren Henry Woolfolk; wife, Shirley Starnes Woolfolk, the mother of Claude Woolfolk Jr. and Michael Woolfolk; wife, Lily Doucette Woolfolk, the mother of William Scott and Daniel James Woolfolk; and by wife, Virgie Ann Beach Woolfolk. Memorial gifts may be made to the Young Family Cemetery Perpetual Fund or a favorite charity.
