American Statesman. He served as the 26th Lieutenant Governor of Nevada from 1975 to 1979. He graduated from both Juniata College in 1963 and New York University School of Law in 1964. In the mid-1960s, he served as a law clerk at the Nevada Supreme Court. In 1970, he was elected to the post of Washoe County district attorney. Four years later, he was elected to the post of Lieutenant Governor and served in this position for the next four years until stepping down in 1979. In 1978, he was the Democratic gubernatorial nominee, but was unsuccessful against Republican Robert List in the November general election. He was appointed to the District Court in Clark County, Nevada in 1986. He went on to be elected to the state Supreme Court in 1988 and served three terms before his retirement in 2007.
