Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Truman and Flora Hall Scott.
Shirley was a member of Monaghan Baptist Church where she sang in the Silver Tones Choir. She enjoyed playing the piano and gardening. She loved her family deeply and took pride in being a good mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her children, Buddy (Roni) Carter and Tina Church; five grandchildren, Ashley (Jeff) Turmon, Whitney Carter, Haley Carter, Amy (Phillip) Morford, and Justin (Taylor) Church; eight great grandchildren; and a sister, Bea Smith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Edna Campbell, Jeanette McAllister, Betty Rich and Elmer Scott.
