Russell E. Pennington, of Burnham, also known as "Penny" by his fellow employees and "Pete" to family and friends, passed away Monday, Feb. 14, 2022, at his home.

He was born in his home 87 years ago, July 14, 1934, to the late Robert Pennington and Rose DeArment.

Russell was also predeceased by his wife and love of his life, Celista F. (Murphy) Pennington, and children, Audy G. Pennington and Ida M. Pennington.

Russell is survived by: children, Roselee A. Harpster, Rick Pennington and wife, Theresia, Donna L. Pennington, and Barry L. Pennington, all of Burnham; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He retired from Standard Steel Corporation as a machinist with 35 years of service. Russell was very knowledgeable and skilled in construction, masonry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and heavy machine operation.

As a tribute to his longtime residency and strong sense of community, the alley behind his house was named "Penny Lane".

Family was most important to him. He enjoyed the company of family and friends and was always there to lend a hand or a pretzel. Russell had a heart of gold and made many contributions to worthy charities including veteran organizations and St. Jude Children's Hospital. He will be forever cherished and missed.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Avenue, Burnham.

A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Feb. 18, at the Funeral Home, with Rev. John Walters officiating.

Interment will take place at Vira Methodist Cemetery, Lewistown.
