Edward was born on August 26, 1954, in Brooklyn, a son of the late Willard J. and Jean H. (Hoffmann) Allen. He was raised in St. James and educated in Smithtown, NY, graduating from Smithtown High School with the class of 1972.
On June 21, 1975, he was united in marriage to the former Patricia A. McCoy in St. James, NY. They shared a devoted union of 45 years until her passing on November 24, 2020. For many years he was manager of a number of convience stores. He then purchased the business and for over 12 years he owned and operated E. J. Allen, Inc.
Edward was a NASCAR enthusiast and enjoyed his muscle cars. Loving to 'cruise' the town with his wife, enjoying, particpating in and winning several carshow competitions together. He will be remembered as a caring, thoughful, giving man who was devoted to his wife and family. He will be sadly missed.
Edward is survived by his two sons, David Allen and his wife Shelly of Herkimer, Edward C. Allen and his wife Cara of Chesapeake, VA, two daughters, Patrica J. Allen of Crofton MD, Dawn Seamon and her husband Brenton of Cooperstown, a brother, Thomas Allen and his wife Nancy of West Sayville, NY. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Veronica McCoy of Richfield Springs as well as a number of extended family members. Edward was most proud of being a Papa, having eleven grandchildren; Piper, Danielle, Christian, Brenna, Avery, Landon, Nick, Colton, Noralee, Wyatt, Dean and a baby girl on the way.
Calling hours for Mr. Allen will take place on Thursday from 4:00-until 6:00 p.m.
A funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery Richfield Springs will take place later this spring.
