Bill served his country in World War II in the United States Navy throughout the Pacific Theatre. He would say that he wasn't an extraordinary man, but he showed us all how an ordinary man could lead an extraordinary life. He was loved and will be missed by all.
He was predeceased by his wife, Arta "Artie" J. Payne Overton.
Survivors include his children, Steve R. Overton, Wanda Pope; grandchildren, Billy, Courtney (Domingos) Muekalia, Kirk (Melanie) McKenzie, Brian (Johanna) Pope; great-grandson, Joshua (Kelsey) McKenzie; great-granddaughter, R Marie; sister, Wynell Woodham; many nieces & nephews.
The family will hold a graveside service on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
