Harold W. Sutton, 84, of Shelbyville, died on Wednesday, the 9th day of February, 2022, at University of Louisville Hospital Shelbyville. Born in Willisburg on the 16th day of December in 1937, he was the son of the late Joseph Marshall and Laura Alta Devine Sutton. He was a member of the Willisburg Baptist Church, and he served in the U. S. Army Reserves. A realtor and auctioneer, he was also formerly active in county government, serving as a magistrate on the Shelby County Fiscal Court from 1982-1986, and as a Shelby County constable from 1998-2002. A member of the Finchville Ruritan Club, he was also a former member and President of the Mount Eden Ruritan Club, and a former member and director of the Waddy Ruritan Club. He also served on the Shelby County Fair Board and his memberships also included the Waddy Lodge No. 662 of Free and Accepted Masons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Don Sutton.
His survivors include his wife, Jane Maupin Sutton of Shelbyville; his daughter, Mie Sloan of Shelbyville; his brother, Larry Sutton of Willisburg; his sister, Wilma Sims, also of Willisburg; his three grandsons, Logan Shields, Darrell Glen Sloan, and Clayton Sloan; and his four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Friday, the 18th day of February, 2022, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville with the Reverend Roy Temple, Jr., officiating. Interment will be in the Grove Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
