Roland was a native and lifelong resident of Opelousas, where he was a parishioner of St. Landry Catholic Church. He was employed with Roy Motors for 10 years. Roland loved watching horse racing and drag racing. He was also an avid football fan, and especially loved the LSU Tigers and the Saints.
Survivors include two daughters, Nira Gay and her boyfriend, Jeremy Joseph, of Lawtell and Danelle Soileau of Prairie Ronde; seven grandchildren, TyRee Bracy, Cobey Williams, Courtney Williams, Kyra Williams, Andrew Valyan, Conner Leger and his fiancée, Hannah, and Cadeyn Soileau; one great grandchild, Branson Leger; one sister, Gloria Olivier and her husband, Gilbert, of Lawtell; and one Godchild, Adonica "Ms. Nettie" Devillier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam Gay and the former Viola Leleaux; one son, Daniel "Danny" Ray Gay; one brother, Joseph Ulysses Gay; and two sisters, Marie Devillier and Iola Marks.
A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until service time on Saturday.
