On February 12, 2022, Betty Ruth Hasty Clark, age 94, went home to be with her Lord and Savior and to be reunited with her beloved husband, AL Clark, and her father, mother, two brothers, one sister, one grandson, one niece and one nephew.

On November 20, 1927, Betty Ruth was born to Thomas Monroe and Dovie Mae Warren Hasty in Dardanelle, Arkansas and was one of four children. She loved her family all her life.

The family moved to Texas where Betty attended school and was a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. Betty entered into a large family, whom she dearly loved as her own, when she married her high-school sweetheart, Algerene L (AL) Clark, in a small home wedding in Mt. Vernon on May 28, 1944. They were happily married 69 years and together had two daughters: Linda and Carolyn.

Betty loved people and was a fast typist which gave her the perfect skills needed to work as a secretary for First Baptist Church and later at Flow Memorial Hospital both of Denton. Upon her retirement, she took a part-time job with American Greetings, but the job she most enjoyed was that of homemaker and mother.

She was an active member of the school PTA and First Baptist Church of Denton for many years. She and AL later joined Highland Baptist Church where they were both active members. Betty loved Jesus with her whole heart and enjoyed going to church worship and fellowships. She especially loved and enjoyed being with all the ladies of the Friendship Sunday School Class led by Wanda Mundy.

Betty accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior when she was 11 years old and shared her love and devotion to Him with many through the years. She clung to her life verse until her passing: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

A graveside service in her honor will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022, at 2:00pm at Roselawn Memorial Park, to be officiated by Rev. Brandon McCarroll of Highland Baptist Church. Due to ongoing immediate family health concerns, the family would appreciate practicing social distancing and the use of masks at the service.

Betty is survived by daughters, Linda Barrett and husband Rick of Denton, Texas, Carolyn Thomson and husband Bruce of Denton, Texas; one granddaughter, Sarah Thomson-Heinrich and husband Stefan of Tornoto, Ontario - Canada; five great-grandchildren, Jessica Barrett Meier and husband Curtis of Allen, Texas, David Barrett of Denton, Texas and Isaac Barrett and wife Hannah of Ft.
