Vernon J. Johnson passed away on Feb. 12, 2022, at the age of 102. He was the son of immigrants from Finland, Mary Irene (Lindstrom) Johnson and Andrew Johnson. Preceded in death by wife, Jenny (Baylis) Johnson.
Survived by daughter, Debbie (Doug) Tihonovich; sons, John Johnson and Christopher Johnson; grandson, Devin Tihonovich; and special cousins, Pamela (Jim) McCormick, Kim Bauman and Talan Bauman of Denver.
Vernon was a WWII veteran who served in Japan, Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines.
He retired from CF&I Steel Corporation after 34 years. He loved playing golf and played up into his 90s. Vernon was a member of Rocky Mountain Baptist Church. Special thanks to Sangre de Cristo Hospice for all their support.
