Sue Angell Malone danced. And took chances. And when Sue passed away on February 9th, 2022, she left behind a legacy of bravery, of fierce determination, of wicked humor, but most importantly, one of love. Because Sue Angell Malone knew how to love.

Sue was born in Rhode Island on March 5th, 1968, and almost immediately, she met a fellow R.I. baby named Sean Malone, the boy downstairs. Years after building sandcastles as toddlers on Galilee Beach at Point Judith, their lives took separate paths, but their connection seemed pre-determined. They reunited and started dating in 1994, married in 1995, and through a shared love of lobster boils, clam chowder, music, lacrosse, the Boston Bruins, and New England Patriots – Sue and Sean built their life together – which was made complete when they brought their three sports and music loving girls, Maggie, Tessa, and Grace, into the world. Sue's devotion to, and love of, her daughters was constant until the last.

There was nothing formal nor fussy about Sue Malone, because once you met her, if you didn't suffer fools, you were in her circle. From her cherished Bay View classmates, her adored Phi Mu sisters from American University, and the longtime friends she made through her professional life, her circles stretched far and wide, overlapped and grew.

They grew to include her community at Kent Gardens Recreation Club, her wine and book clubs, her new friends at Stella and Dot, her cherished community of friends in faith at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, and no list would be complete without her amazing neighbors on Tucker Avenue.

At five-foot nothing, it would be easy to think that she would disappear in a crowd, but not Sue Malone. Because between that all-out laugh, that I-know-better-than-you-smile, that passion for life, and her never-ending faith, she stood out. And nothing made her smile more than her family.

Sue leaves behind her beloved husband Sean, her beautiful daughters Margaret Brenna, Tessa Rose and Grace Dorothea, her parents Rose and Bill Angell, her brother Billy Angell and brother-in-law Mark Lamont, her mother-in-law Patricia Malone, Sean's siblings: Ali Wysor (Adam), Katie Merritt (Tony Bob) and Chris Malone, and her nieces and nephews: Jack, Lily, Charlie, Amelia, and Lucy, and her beloved and devoted dog River, perfectly named after the road that both Sue and her husband Sean were born on in Providence.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sue's name to Life With Cancer (lifewithcancer.org). Because as Sue would tell her father, she wasn't dying of cancer, she was living with it. And oh, how Sue lived.
