Wayne was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He devoted himself to his family in every season of life. He always counted it the highest honor to pastor and shepherd God's flock and poured himself into his congregations and friends he made over the years. He graduated from the University of Evansville and worked for years in the Vanderburgh County Court System as a Bailiff and Juvenile Probation officer. He was also a radio disc jockey spinning gospel music every Saturday morning for WVHI.
Wayne was born in Dugger, IN on October 15, 1931. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. James Andrew Miller, his mother, Arzella Geneva (Smith), his older infant sister, and his younger brother, Paul Vernon Miller.
After retirement from pastoring, his family was his life. ...
He officially retired at 79 years of age. During the week, you could often find him walking five miles per day in Eastland Mall. He met and made numerous friends doing so. He often filled in pastors' pulpits as requested and enjoyed working in a jail ministry. He was a fervent prayer warrior. He daily rose before dawn to pray for the needs of his family, friends and nation and kept a journal of names for which to pray.
