Gary Edward Eberle, age 69, of Oklahoma City, Okla., born January 28, 1953 in Allegheny Co., Penn., passed away February 2, 2022 at the VA Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

Born and raised near Pittsburgh, just minutes from the Steelers' stadium, Gary graduated from Moon Township High School in 1971. He was an avid Steelers fan throughout his life, even to this day, enjoying watching episodes of the Bradshaw Bunch on TV. He enlisted in the US Air Force, and served honorably for 23 years in Civil Engineering, retiring in 1998 from Tinker AFB. While a young airman stationed at Scott AFB, he met O'Fallon-native Karen Fay Gentry in the summer of '78. Months later, on November 10, 1978, they were married at the Scott AFB chapel. Karen continued to support Gary throughout his military career. Upon military retirement, he began working in the engineering department for DynPar in Oklahoma City. Gary earned his undergraduate degree from McKendree University in Lebanon, Ill., and later his MBA from Webster University in St. Louis. Additionally, he had attended Paramedic training, and also earned his certificate in Construction Technology.

Gary enjoyed fishing at Bull Shoals Lake in the Ozark Mountains and working with leather, making handmade belts and other accessories. He was a member of the American Legion.

Gary was preceded in death by his father Melvin Eberle and his mother Eileen, nee Ross, Carl; and his infant son Jacob.

Surviving are his loving wife Karen, nee Gentry, Eberle, of Okla. City; his son Matthew Eberle of Okla. City.; brother Jeff (Valerie) Eberle of Cape Coral, Fla.; nieces Debbie (Michael) Simoni, Terri Booher; nephews Justin (Andrea) Gentry, Cody (Michelle) Gentry, and Kevin (fiance' Emily) Eberle; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4 – 8 pm, Friday, February 11, 2022 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon, Illinois.

Funeral Service will be at 1 pm, Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at O'Fallon City Cemetery, O'Fallon, Illinois.
