The Late Jonathan McKnight.

One of the eldest and most respected citizens of Cavan Township departed this life on Sept.15 in the person of Jonathan McKnight at the age of 74 years.

Deceased, who is the son of the late Samuel McKnight, was born in the County Down, Ireland. With his parents he came to Canada when but 11 years old and settled in South Monaghan.

About 45 years go he married Jane Forsythe, Cavan. To this happy union seven children were born, six of whom survive him. They are: Mars, Robert Johnston, Bailieboro; Mrs. Thos. Wilson , Manvers; Mrs. Geo. Southgate, Toronto; Miss Florence at home; Fred W. of Toronto (at present a soldier in Eng.); and Thomas at home in Cavan, to all of whom we extend sincere sympathy. One daughter, Ann, was accidently killed when three years old.

In religion, Mr. McKnight was a Presbyterian. He was a man of high ideals and his word was as good as his bond.

The funeral on Sunday, the 17th at the 9th Line Cemetery was largely attended, Rev. W.H. Clarke conducted the service at the house and grave.

The pall bearers were: Wm. Elson, Wm. Tinney, Wm. and Jas. Douglas, and H. Staples.
