Terry Lee Elder, 53, of Sullivan, passed away 12:04 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2022, at St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur.
Memorial services will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2022, at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Sullivan. Face masks are suggested and please practice social distancing for the services. Memorials may be made to the Sullivan School District or to the Sullivan Paramedics.
Terry was born on July 1, 1968, in Decatur, the son of Lowell Elvin and Leatitia C. (Maxedon) Elder. He married Dawn Marie Gautier on April 2, 1997 in Sullivan; they spent 24 wonderful years together.
He worked as a custodian at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center and the Sullivan School District for many years. Terry was a graduate of Sullivan High School in the class of 87. He loved doing yard work and cleaning his cars. Terry cherished spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his parents, Lowell and Leatitia Elder of Great Bend, Kansas, formerly of Sullivan; wife, Dawn Elder of Sullivan; sons, Cori James (Tiffney) Elder of Decatur and Trevor Wayne Elder of Peoria; grandchildren, Raygan, Liam and Shyann; brother, Michael Wayne Elder of Springfield; sister, Candy (Eric) Murphy of Great Bend, Kansas; nieces and nephew, Caleb, Cailyn and Cara Murphy; aunt, Dee Elder of Sullivan; brother-in-law, Todd W. Gautier of Sullivan; sister-in-law, Robin (Tony) Hodge of Decatur, niece, Addie. Terry is also survived by numerous extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and close friend, Bart Qualls.
