Ernest Wayne Johnson Sr. (Ernie) passed from this world on Thursday, February 11, 2022 at Grandwood Assisted Living in Grove, Oklahoma. He was 88. Ernie was born July 19, 1933 in Bluejacket, Oklahoma to Edward Johnson and Marina Pearl Johnson. He was the youngest of ten children born to Thomas and Marina.
Ernie lived most of his life in the Miami, Oklahoma area. He worked at B.F. Goodrich and then owned and managed residential rental properties. Owning and managing rental properties allowed him to use his unique talents in carpentry and woodworking. He loved to share these talents with family, helping them on whatever projects they had. "Just give the man a chainsaw or hammer and let him go to work…" was a common phrase shared when Ernie was brought in on a family project.
In his younger years he was an avid fisherman who loved boating and water skiing with family and friends on Grand Lake. In his later years he and his wife Kay enjoyed time in their RV at Pine Island on Grand Lake and their time share in Branson, Missouri.
Ernie was preceded in death by his wife Mary Kathryn "Kay" Brewster Johnson, his parents, and his nine other siblings. He leaves his children, Terry Robinson and her husband Sam Robinson of Grove, Oklahoma, Ernest Wayne Johnson Jr. of Lamar, Missouri, Johna Kay McHenry and her husband Mark McHenry of Ft. Worth, Texas, Jacquelyn Wilkins, and Jamie Pride of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He leaves eleven grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
