Funeral services for Mr. James Athen Gordon will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oakdale with Father Jose Vattakunnel officiating.
Interment will follow in Reed Cemetery, Guy Community, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mr. Gordon, 83, of Oakdale, entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 12, 2022 in Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria, Louisiana.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed collecting and restoring "Hot Rods." He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Marie Gordon and two sisters, Frankie Smith and Fannie Fontenot.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memories include his loving wife of seventeen years, Dorothy B. Gordon of Oakdale; one daughter, Monya King and her husband, Roy of Pensacola, Florida; one stepson, Kevin Fournerat of Oakdale; two stepdaughters, Carol Steele and her husband, Walter of Oakdale and Colleen Sonnier and her husband, Randy of Oberlin; one grandchild, Olivia Vincent and her husband, Taylor of New Orleans; one great grandchild, Elaina Vincent of New Orleans; two step-grandsons, Christopher Fournerat and his wife, Lauren of Baton Rouge and Clay Perry and his wife, Stephanie of Oberlin.
A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until time of departure for the church.
