Harold Gene White was born in Conroe, TX on April 16, 1935, the son of Glester Lee and Mary (Burkhart) White. He died on February 11, 2022 at Lake Country Nursing Center in Marietta at the age of 86. Mary died when Harold was an infant and Alamito "Sug" White was the mother who raised him.

Although he grew up the son of a driller and lived in many states, he considered Love County, and particularly the Eastman community, home. A graduate of Meadowbrook High School, he was the last living member of the 1951 and 1952 State Basketball Championship Teams. Harold received a scholarship to play basketball at Midwestern University along with his brother Rex. He also played basketball at Lon Morris College with teammate Billy Tubbs. Harold did some rodeoing and continued to calf rope for many years. Harold married the love of his life, Sondra Kay McDaniel, on November 23, 1963 in Rubottom, OK. He was a driller in the oil field in several states, South America and the Aleutian Islands before going to work for Uniroyal where he retired after 23 years as supervisor of Stock Prep. An avid quail hunter, he loved his land, his Charolais cattle and his bird dogs. Harold was at home in the country, one of the breed of cowboys like his father. He told great stories and had many more to tell. He attended Eastman Baptist Church and was a founding member of the Eastman Fire Department.

Harold was preceded in death by his mother, Mary White; parents, Lee and Alamito White; and brother, Rex White.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Sondra White of the home; son, Rick Golden of Oklahoma City; brother, Lee White and wife Joan of Ardmore; sister, Janie Horton of Ardmore; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Harold are set for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Eastman Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Marietta.
Casket bearers are Charles Willis, Don Gath, John Richie, Mark Rackley, Robert Dale Williams, and Roy Hartman. Honorary bearers are Robert "Bub" Williams, Wes Hickman, and Dale Harris.
