Born January 23, 1932 in Winston-Salem, Elizabeth or "Bibby" as she was affectionately nicknamed, was the daughter of Louise Wall Anglin and Charles Louis Anglin and was raised in the Ardmore neighborhood. An accomplished vocalist and pianist, Elizabeth graduated from Reynolds High School in 1950 and attended Meredith College as a Music major. She married her childhood sweetheart, the late Robert "Bob" Jordan Rights, on July 26,1952, and together raised four children who were her greatest joys.
Elizabeth completed her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education at Winston Salem State University. She later obtained a Master's degree in Middle School Education from Appalachian State University while continuing to teach at a number of North Carolina public elementary and middle schools over her 27-year career. A caring but firm influence, Elizabeth took immense pride in shaping young students for success in life, particularly through her favorite subjects – Mathematics and Language Arts. She possessed a sharp mind and demanded proper grammar – a consummate wordsmith! Elizabeth was an active member of choirs and handbell ringers at United Methodist churches in the communities where she and Bob lived. Her devotion to church, family, and students defined her life.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, a sister, and her beloved son, David Hunter Rights. She is survived by her loving children, son Dr. Robert J. Rights, Jr. (Debbie) of Conover, son Alan R. Rights of Greensboro, and daughter Carol Rights Holzworth (Grant) of Charlotte, a daughter-in-law, Barbara Rights of Orlando, treasured grandchildren Zoe (Joe), David Jr. (Rebecca), Geoffrey (Mandy), Ryan (Abby), Grant Jr., Jordan, and Jackson, great-grandchildren Kyle, Jacob, Paisley, Payton, Paige, Holland, a baby boy Rights due in March, and several nieces and nephews.
