Wanda Gay Johnson, beloved mother, daughter, grandmother, and friend departed from this life on February 7, 2022. Born May 26, 1964, to Larry Johnson and Rebecca "Becky" Smith, she was a lifelong resident of Forsyth, Georgia.

After graduating from Monroe Academy in 1982, Wanda went on to complete her undergraduate degree at Mercer University. She graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in history and a minor in political science. Continuing her education, Wanda attended the Walter F. George School of Law. She graduated from there in 1992 and immediately began practicing law, a career she remained in for over 20 years.

Wanda will be remembered for many things but perhaps what stands out the most was her devotion towards helping animals, her thirst for knowledge, her love for flowers, and her selflessness towards others.

She is survived by her mother, Rebecca "Becky" Smith of Forsyth; daughter Rebecca Cain (Chris) of Forsyth; grandson Kennon Robert Cain, and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Johnson.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Rev. Pam Johnston will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately after the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Save A Pet Inc. (P.O. Box 933, Forsyth, GA 31029) or another animal rescue.

Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
