Susan Elizabeth Hopkins age 70 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Thursday morning February 10, 2022 at her home.
She was born October 6, 1951 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana daughter of the late Jesse L. and Betty Jean (Harwell) Smith, Sr.
Susan resided in Sturgis since 1974 coming from Arkansas and her early life was lived in Louisiana.
On May 1, 1971 she married Gregory Hopkins in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Susan was a talented secretary and had worked for several companies in the area including James Ware Construction Company, the Kirsch Company, Martin Products, Marty Hart Auto Sales and area banking institutions.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Sturgis where she served as the church secretary and Sunday school teacher.
Susan enjoyed fishing with Gregg at Klinger Lake and Lake Erie, camping in their 5th wheel trailer, shopping and going out to eat and she loved her dogs. She became a true Michigander enjoying traveling throughout the state especially during the fall color changes.
She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 50 years: Gregory; one brother: Jesse L. Smith, Jr. of Denham, Louisiana and niece and nephew: Angel and Jeffrey.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
