Alex Aldridge, age 19, died Thursday, February 10, 2022 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer..

Alex was born & raised in Duplin County where he had numerous family, friends, and loved ones. After a move to Kinston in 2019 with his mother, Jessica Spearman & his brother, Dylan Aldridge, he still had a heart for "back home". He graduated from East Duplin High School in 2021 and was FCA President his senior year. At the time of his passing, Alex worked full time for Chick-fil-A at their Kinston location, as well as working part-time window washing at various local restaurant locations, after having tried a hand in construction with MRM Construction, mentoring under Ray Macleod, & for a short time with his grandfather and father, Dennis & Mark Aldridge, for his grandfather's construction business. Alex loved to work and worked hard. More than that, Alex loved people, & Alex loved people because of his heart for God.

Alex was an active member of Grace Covenant Church (GCC), & "active" is really not a strong enough word. Alex has been on fire for God since the moment he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Over his lifetime, Alex attended various churches with his mother and with other family or with friends; however, he found Jesus as his Lord & Savior, a little over 4 years ago, at an Oasis event at GCC and quickly became involved in worship, ministry, and leadership - on fire for God! In 2019, Alex traveled with many other youth to minister in Brazil and prior to Covid restrictions, had plans to mission in Israel as well.

While Alex had not taken any formal lessons in music, he learned to play the piano and guitar, & you could find him singing most any service on stage at GCC alongside his mentors and friends. There is no doubt that Alex is walking the streets of heaven singing at this very moment in time and for all of eternity. Making a choice to accept Jesus can afford you the same opportunity.

Alex knew his healing would come after his diagnosis of adrenal cancer, & his healing came. Alex left his mother's arms and ran into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, February 10, 2022 after a brief fight with a very aggressive illness, but rest assured, he did not suffer. Alex prayed and praised the Lord every single day of his illness until his last breath. Alex's one wish was that through his life that others would come to know Christ Jesus. If you do not know Jesus, I encourage you to run to him. If you don't have a place to attend church, I encourage you to find your home in GCC; but wherever you decide to go, always know, Jesus is still there & that is what is most important!
