Rex Harold Smith, 67, passed away February 9, 2022. He was born August 3, 1954 in Wake County to the Graham Larkin Smith, Sr. and Evelyn Virginia Callahan Smith.
Rex was a 1972 graduate of Vaiden Whitley High School where he was captain of the football team. He was a proud farmer for many years and also owner/operator of Smith Farm & Landscaping prior to retirement. Rex loved his family, community, and the game of football.
He is survived by his children: Christopher Smith, Sue Hicks (Ken), Jason Rudder (Cynthia), Kaitlyn Borden, Savannah Gaydon; grandchildren: Kimber Hicks, Kyle Rains, Cameron Rudder, Collins Oliver; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Angela Smith; nieces: Heather Smith Bunn, Dawn Borden; nephew, Brandon Smith; several great-nieces and nephews; and many special cousins.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Graham Larkin Smith, Jr.; and great-niece, Madison Bunn.
A graveside inurnment service will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Knightdale United Methodist Church Cemetery, 621 N. First Avenue, Knightdale.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family or the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
