Brian Douglas Miller, 55, of Anderson, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022. He was born on February 7, 1967 in Connersville to Clem and Mary Ann (Gutzwiller) Miller.

Brian was a 1985 graduate of Connersville High School. He furthered his education at the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, and attained his master's degree from Ball State University.

Brian was a caring and compassionate funeral director, serving many families throughout the State of Indiana. In 2007, he founded the Mortuary Science program at the Lawrence Campus of Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis. He served as the Program Chair of the school from 2007 until 2021. He touched many students' lives not only as an instructor, but also as a mentor and friend.

Returning to his hometown roots in 2021, he joined the Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Homes in Connersville and Liberty, IN, and College Corner, OH. Brian served the community as Funeral Director and General Manager of the firms.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking and rock-n-roll music. His woodworking speciality was making unique ink pens. He had a remarkable ability to make people laugh, often times through stories about himself.

Brian loved spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Jill Miller; three children, Kyle (Noah) Miller of Indianapolis, Kasey Miller of Anderson, and Kendal Miller of Anderson; his parents, Clem and Mary Ann Miller of Connersville; his siblings, Jeannine Dabertin of Fishers, Eric (Tracy) Miller of Covington, KY , and Jo Ann (Lowell) Limpus of Nolensville, TN; his in-laws, Jackie Wright of Anderson and Jerry (Kathy) Wright of Anderson; and family members and friends too numerous to mention.

The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, 920 North Central Avenue, Connersville, with Bishop Brandon Blevins officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

The family gratefully acknowledges the compassionate care of Dr. Harb, and the Nurses and staff of Community Hospital in Anderson that Brian and our family received.
