She was born on August 15, 1939 in Robeson County, NC.
Geraldine was loved by all who knew her. She was very community oriented and was a pillar of the Saddletree Community. She worked hard as a homemaker - cooking, baking, farming, sewing and providing for her family. Baking biscuits and cakes were her specialty and she won several cake baking competitions locally. Geraldine was a member of Freedom Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Bell; her parents, James Burder Spaulding (Mary Cathern) and Bertha Lee Brewer-Spaulding; and a brother, Delmer Ray Spaulding.
Geraldine is survived by her children: James Craig Bell of Lumberton, Sandra Bowen (Stephen) of Lumberton, Bruce Bell of Lumberton, and Susan Thompson (Gene) of Lumberton; five grandchildren: Adam Bowen (Amanda) of Maxton, Daniel Bowen (Ashlyn) of Liberty, SC, Megan McNeill (Matt Bailey) of Fairmont, Garrison Thompson of Lumberton, and Gabriel Thompson of Lumberton; five great-grandchildren: Liberty Rose Bowen, Judah Ukiah Bowen, Titus Alexander Bowen, Zadie Jo Bowen, and Grayson Blain Thompson; four brothers: James Elmer Spaulding (Dorothy) of Lumberton, Willie Spaulding of Lumberton, Osteen Spaulding (Aggie) of Lumberton, and Maryland Spaulding (Gaynell) of Lumberton; two sisters, Phonia Jacobs (Freddie) of Raeford and Devon Hunt (Hal) of Lumberton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
The funeral services will be held in Freedom Baptist Church with Pastors Davey Locklear, Gary Strickland, Bailey Weeks and Jimmy Hammonds officiating. The burial services will follow at Bethel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumberton.
