Isabella Gordon Lummis was born to Rev. Cornwallis Cassander and Marie Louisa (Patenaude) Lummis in Mille-Isles, Argenteuil, Quebec, Canada. When Isabella was 26 years of age and unmarried she was sent to Lowell Massachusetts to live with her uncle and have a baby. The baby, Ruth Corinne Lumus was born at Lowell General Hospital on March 17, 1906 to Isabella Gordon Lumus. Isabella's 1st child and only daughter. The Certified Birth Certificiate and other documents state the father is unknown and a dash line through it. Isabella left the baby with her uncle and went back to Canada, alone. In 1914 Isabella married William Carter Copping and they had three boys. I have been told by a Lummis family member that this is true and he knew Ruth, my Grandmother.
