Prospect – John Richard (Dick) Owens, 89, of Prospect, NY was reunited with his beloved wife, Sue on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 with his family by his side and always in his heart.

Dick was born in the village of Prospect, NY on October 31, 1932. The only son and 4th generation to Lewis Richard and Elizabeth (Carswell) Owens.

He was a graduate of Holland Patent Central School and Paul Smith's College (53'). Dick proudly served in the 82nd Airborne, a division of the US Army from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1956.

On November 28, 1959, Dick was united in marriage with Sue E. Bradshaw in Lewiston, NY. A loving and blessed union of nearly 61 years until Sue's death in 2020.

Dick was a surveying engineer and was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 545. A few of the highlights from job sites were: The Niagara Falls Power Project; many of the hospitals in the Syracuse area and Nine Mile Point. He also worked with: Prospect Volunteer Firemen, Prospect Recreation Committee, Prospect Cemetery Board, Notre Dame Parents Committee and American Legion, Poland, NY. After Dick's retirement, he worked in the Prospect Cemetery as caretaker for many years.

Surviving are his children, D'Arcy and Roger St. Cyr, Utica, Jacqueline and James Daniels, Albany, Suzanne and Samuel Finelli, GA and John Richard and Tanya Owens, FL; grandchildren, James and Sarah St. Cyr, Owen Daniels, Samuel Finelli, Elizabeth Finelli, Seamus Daniels, John Richard Owens III, Owen Owens, Stone Owens and Bryce Owens; great grandchildren, Kennedy and Sydney St. Cyr and the future St. Cyr great granddaughter due in July; brother-in-law, William and Yvette Bradshaw and James Bradshaw. Also surviving are many loved nieces and nephews and many close and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his wife, Sue, his parents, Lewis and Elizabeth Owens, in-laws, William and Elizabeth Bradshaw and sister-in-law. Cyndy Bradshaw.
