SAUGERTIES…. Robert J. Meyer, 79, a lifetime area resident died peacefully Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his family. Born May 10, 1942 in Poughkeepsie he was the son of the late Julius and Mary Meyer. A veteran of the Vietnam War he served in the US Army. He was a former employee of Freihofer's where he was employed for over 25 years, He then went on to own and operate Bob's Stadium Lounge, Mountain View Restaurant and Patti & Bob's Centerville Pub all in Saugerties. He was also employed by Waste Management for many years.
Bob and his wife, Linda just recently celebrated 2 years of marriage on January 24, 2022. Married in Las Vegas, Nevada with their family and his longtime friend and best man, Tom Miller, by his side.
A huge Yankee fan, he and his wife, Linda attended many games including spring training games while they spent their winters in Florida. He was also inducted into the Dutchess County Fast Pitch Hall of Fame.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Gagnon Meyer, and his children, grandchildren, sister Dolores, two brothers Donald (Sandy) Meyer and Thomas Meyer and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Julius Meyer and a brother-in-law Myron Tompkins.
His Funeral Service will be held 8:15 pm Monday, February 14, 2022 at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Friends will be received prior to the service from 2-4 and 7-830 pm. Burial with military honors will be 10 am Friday, February 18, 2022 at the Blue Mountain Cemetery.
