Ruth Hurd was born to Anderson and Sally Sleeper Hurd. She lived her entire life in Dyer and after her parents died she and her sisters and brother lived there with her grandparents and uncles. On August 9, 1933, she had a daughter, Wanda Sue, who became her life. Ruth worked hard and provided well for her daughter. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter and her gardens and flowers were known all over town. She was a generous woman and very loving. Wanda Sue married Ray Aldridge in 1957 and they had 3 children. At the time of Ruth's death she had 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She was a member of Dyer Baptist Church in which her grandfather was a charter member.
