Daughter of Myrtle Leemaster Carter and Robert Edwin Joyce. She graduated from Rome High School in 1951 while also working at Wiseman's Bakery. Shortly after, she met Henry L Freeman Jr., from Shannon, Georgia, and theu were married on December 18, 1953. Henry was in the U.S. Air Force and they started married life in Texas, and transferred to Japan. After Japan they were stationed in Cocoa Beach, FL, then Savannah, GA, before being transfered to McGuire AFB, NJ. Within a year of moving to NJ, Henry was ordered to serve in Vietnam and she moved back to Rome to be near family. After Henry retired from the Air Force, in 1980, they moved to Marietta, GA, where they were members of Eastside Baptist Church for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of almost 66 years, Henry Larkin Freeman Jr.; and siblings, Charles Mitchell, Robert Edwin Joyce, Jr., Shirley Joyce Walker, Jimmy Carter, and Jerry Carter. Survivors include her children, Kenneth Dale Freeman (Valerie), Kathryn Gail Thiessen (Jules), and Robert Larkin Freeman (Tara); grandchildren, Matthew Lee Freeman (Ashley), Brandon Alexander Rich, Kevin David Freeman (Mary), Bethany Faith Freeman, Alison Joyce Freeman, Andrew Larkin Freeman, and Jonathan Campbell; and great-grandchildren, Liam Freeman, Levi Freeman, Landon Freeman, Alexander Rich, and Freya Freeman.
