Through the early years of his life, Ronald James Mitchell gained his popularity within the community along with his wife by being the selfless, outspoken individual he was. Those who knew him, knew he was always welcoming others with open arms and lending a helping hand when needed. Ronald was an inspiration to the community, always encouraging the youth to strive for greatness and putting others first. He had a true passion for helping those in the community do better.

Ronald was a faithful and devoted member of Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, LA where he was baptized and born into the church. He would later go on to wed the love of his life, Kathy Mitchell and hold strong to his marriage for 48 years, living in faith. Ronald served as an usher of the church for numerous years. He loved attending Sunday masses not only remembering to keep holy the sabbath day but to see the many familiar faces of the community, especially during football season. GO COWBOYS….! Ronald was the biggest and most devoted Dallas Cowboy fan we all knew.

As a graduate of the class of 1970 of Adam Carlson High School, Ronald was the head drum major for the baddest band in the land, The Adam Carlson High Eagle Marching Band.

It is said that he may have been the best drum major to ever march the streets of St. Martinville. After high school, he then attended Southern University and after spending time in college he began working at the family business, Mitchell's Drive Inn. Through the early days of his work life at the family business he became known as the "Hamburger Man". That nickname has stuck with him through the years.

As his popularity grew, he would then serve as the King of the St. Martinville Mardi Gras festivities and then become the President of the (M.O.D.) Men of Distinction organization, a club for past kings.

Ronald also served as the Basketball Coach and Athletic Director for Trinity Catholic School. He was a mentor and statistician for the 2002 State Championship Team and numerous other years for St. Martinville Senior High Basketball. His legacy as a coach and mentor will live on through individuals and players he influenced.

Ronald leaves to cherish loving and found memories of his life. He was truly loved by his kids and all 14 grandchildren. He enjoyed attending their daily activities and sporting events in pass time. His world revolved around his grandchildren leaving behind memories to last a lifetime with them.
