Mrs. Evelyn Bailey Howard, age 88, of Sharpsburg, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022.
Evelyn was born August 22, 1933 to the late William and Nannie Sue Bailey. She grew up in Lanette, AL and was regarded as a true southern belle. She had an amazing love of music and was a soloist in many churches throughout her life. She was also a member of the Atlanta Christian Chorus. Evelyn and her late husband loved to travel and host elaborate dinner parties with their friends. Later in life James and Evelyn made it a point to never miss a single game of any of their grandkids, even traveling far to make sure they were in attendance.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 66 years, James Evans Howard. She is survived by her children, Deborah Gale Greene (Perry) of Venice, FL, James Alan Howard (Melanie) of Bradenton, FL, Gregory Lee Howard of Orlando, FL, Lisa Lynne Johns (Mark) of Dallas, GA; grandchildren, Jeremy Howard, Lauren Johns, Tyler Johns, Abby Johns, Hillary Roland, Genavieve Gilbert, Cheryl Chaffin, Teresa Green; great grandchildren, Anneliese Gilbert, Elliot Gilbert, Dylan Roland, Carter Roland, Aidan Roland, Ethan Roland, Jennifer Chafin, Houston Freeman, James Chaffin, and Mark Chaffin; brother, Daniel Bailey (Sherree).
A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 2 o'clock at First Christian Church of Tyrone with Minister Gary Boyd and Rev. Bob Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Parrott Funeral Home & Crematory.
