Rodney was a lifelong resident of Norwoodville and a veteran of the United States Airforce.
He was a devoted employee for many years at Montgomery Wards, Broadlawns Hospital, and Walmart in Ankeny.
Rodney loved the outdoors, gardening, and taking care of his lawn.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Porter; daughters, Debbie Hall and Sheryl Porter; his parents; and siblings, Orval Cooney, Donald Porter and Morna Rhiner.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, from 10 to 11 a.m., with a memorial service to begin at 11:00 a.m., at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Burial will follow at Berwick Cemetery.
