David "Jess" Barnes, a construction, heavy equipment operator, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at the age of 68.
He was born in Sallisaw, Oklahoma on November 21, 1953 to John and Nellie (Ingram) Barnes.
David "Jess" was a very proud Christian, as well as a husband, father, Papa, son, brother, uncle and friend. Each of these titles he held with much pride and the highest regard. He was very proud of his work ethic, but family was what and why he worked his entire life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nellie (Ingram) Barnes; brothers, Jimmy Barnes and Johnny Barnes Jr; sister, Carolyn Barnes; and nephew, Jay Barnes; inlaws, Floyd and Arnie Skaggs; and his first wife, Janie Barnes.
David "Jess" is survived by his wife, Jackie, of the home; daughter, Dachelle Ward and husband Jeff of Braggs; sons, Matthew Barnes and wife Sarah of Gore, Justin Barnes and wife Hannah of Braggs; 18 grandchildren, Ashley, Jordan, Macey, Kolt, Landon, Jake, Mariah, Mattyson, Jhett, Ethan, Mia, Camden, Keily, Adison, Kyson, Ethan, Zane and Jett; 5 great-grandchildren, Addali, Reece, Hayes, Quinn and Averi; stepsons, Chris Patterson and wife Amanda of Greenwood, AR, Grant Davis and wife Devin of Muldrow, OK, and Ferril Davis, of Muldrow, OK; four brothers, Orvil Barnes and wife Glenda of Tahlequah, Tom Barnes of Gore, Mike Barnes and wife Joyce of Sallisaw, Rob Barnes and wife Janice of Chattanooga, OK; sisters-in-law, Donna Barnes and Betty Barnes, both of Gore; two sisters, Genova Ray and husband Charles, Carla Duvall and husband Dan, all of Gore; several nieces and nephews; special friends that were considered family, Robert Parker, T.J. and Linda Johnson, and Larry and Laquetta Terrell.
