Gwendolyn "Gwen" Stevens of Buffalo, Kansas passed away on Friday, December 28, 2007 at the Neosho Regional Medical Center in Chanute, Kansas.

She was born March 19, 1930 to Jake and Virginia (Rice) Cutler in Buffalo, Kansas, where she grew up and attended school, graduating from Buffalo High School.

On October 27, 1950, she married Earl Stevens at Chanute. Following their marriage they made their home in Buffalo for a short time before moving to Parsons, KS, where they lived for five years until returning to Buffalo.

Mrs. Stevens was an active member of the First Christian Church in Chanute, KS, and a longtime member of the Buffalo Christian Church before it closed.

Survivors include her husband, Earl Stevens of the home; three daughters, Diana (Lonny) Allen of Independence, KS, Brenda (Dean) Smith of Buffalo, KS, and Sharon (Mark) Jones of Cherryvale, KS; one son, Kevin Stevens of Sallisaw, OK; three sisters, Eloise Baxter of Buffalo, KS, Jill Hall of Bedford, TX, and Jackie Orrick of Kansas City, MO; 12 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

She has been preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Larry Ray Stevens and Allen Lane Stevens; one sister, Ramona Cox; and one grandson, Justin Allen.

Services will be January 3, 2008 at the First Christian Church in Chanute, Kansas, with Pastor Tom Eastman officiating. Burial will follow at the Buffalo Cemetery, Buffalo, Kansas.

The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association.
