Johnny Lee Robbins

"A Hall of Famer"

Johnny Lee Robbins, 63 of Moore SC is the son of Linda Robbins Froneberger and the late John Henry Robbins and the adopted son of the late Boddy and Nadine Davis Smith. Johnny Lee Robbins, affectionally known as "John Lee" slipped into eternal rest after an extended illness at Spartanburg Regional Hospice, on February 10, 2022. John Lee was a fighter, and he never gave up. So, we say, "take your rest John Lee, it is well deserved!"

John Lee was born on June 1, 1958, in Lockhart, SC. (The Big L) He attended the public school in Union County where he excelled in many sports. Although he loved and played many other sports, baseball was his first love. After high school, John Lee was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1978. John Lee's sweet demeanor never wavered and followed him to Los Angeles. John Lee's slugging power and keen eye earned him the reputation of being one of the games greatest hitters in the area and help lead his teams to win many games and pennants. John Lee also enjoyed playing softball. John Lee played with many teams and leagues throughout his career. John Lee was inducted into the Union County Baseball Hall of Fame. Even though John Lee had played major league baseball, he remained humbled.

Upon returning to the "BIG L" John Lee worked with the school for many years. He touched the lives of the staff and many students while there. He loved his job at the school. John Lee met and fell in love with Cynthia Littlejohn Robbins. To this union, they had a beautiful daughter Celena Johna. John Lee loved his family and he made sure everyone knew it. Johna was the apple of his eye.

John Lee then decided to take a job with Waste Management in Spartanburg, SC. John Lee worked at Waste Management for 28 years and remained there until his retirement in 2016. His love of work followed him there. He loved his "Front Loader Truck." John Lee's customers loved him, and they would make sure they always had gifts and treats for him.

John Lee was a member of Mt. Hopewell Baptist Church where he served on the usher board. John Lee was a faithful fan of the Miami Dolphins. As much as he loved the Dolphins, he hated the Dallas Cowboys just as much. To know John Lee was to love him. He never met a stranger. John Lee was a great husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and many friends. His life and legacy will continue to be celebrated by those he left behind to cherish his memories.
