Walter Gary McKee passed away at his home on February 4, 2022. He was born to JW McKee and Lucille Blakeney on December 15, 1943 in Coleman County. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was also a retired San Angelo Firefighter having served the City of San Angelo for 32 years.

He was everything from a mechanic to a plumber. There was nothing he couldn't work on and fix. He was honest, dependable, and hard-working. He believed a handshake and your word was your bond. Gary was a story-teller. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He had come full circle in his life, from hunting in the Colorado mountains to feeding wild life back behind his home. Passing on his knowledge of hunting and fishing to his children and grandchildren were two of his greatest passions. He will be dearly missed. To know him was to love him.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Blakeney; brother, Lynn Blakeney; son Tony Manning; and nephew Jared Blakeney.

Walter is survived by his wife of 36 years, Helen McKee. Sons; Blake McKee (wife Brandee), Johnny Alley (wife Sheila), and Jeff Manning, Daughter; Kelli Steele. Nine grandchildren; Mathew Bird, Aaliyah Manning, Taylin McKee, Conlie McKee, Justin Alley, Clayton Alley, Shelby Alley, Taylor Steele, Garrett Steele, and ten great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Carol Johnson (wife Nora), nephew, Joshua McKay, and niece Jana Conaway.

A memorial service will be held at 10 am Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel.
