WHITEFIELD--Miss Teresa A Vincent, 80, died at an Augusta hospital early Thursday morning following a long illness. She was born in Chicopee Mass., Jan. 6, 1887, the daughter of Frank and Annie Wynne Vincent. She was a retired registered nurse in the Boston area. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, North Whitefield, and a member of the Altar Society there.
She is survived by one brother, George F. Vincent of Whitefield; one nephew, George B. Vincent of Oceanside, N.Y.; one grand-nephew, one grand-niece and several cousins. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from St. Denis Catholic Church, North Whitefield.

Katy Perry, in one of her newspaper articles, wrote that Teresa Vincent was "involved in child welfare clinics, church activities and comfort to the aging and infirm. She was a treasure." Teresa was a retired nurse from Willimantic CT when she moved to Whitefield where her brother lived. Town Reports note that Teresa [1887-1967] was on the School Committee 1952-1960 and was the Town Health Officer 1954-1963. She was one of the first people in North Whitefield to own a VW Beetle automobile in 1963. Teresa lived in an old cape at 480 Vigue Rd. which burned at midnight on December 12,1964.

North Whitefield and Coopers Mills Vol. Fire Department responded to a fire call on the Reilly Road at midnight Saturday at the home of Teresa Vincent. The house was a total loss, and the cause is not yet known. [No one was living there.]
