Leola Helen Alberts, age 96, formally of Palisade, NE passed away on February 9, 2022 in Kearney, NE.

Leola was born August 3, 1925 in McCook, NE to parents Edward J and Anna (Alhert) Wittwer. She was one of five siblings who grew up in southwest Nebraska, graduating from Hayes County High School in 1943. Following high school, Leola began teaching elementary school at a country school in Hayes County.

On June 18, 1946, Leola married Elmer August Alberts in Culbertson, NE. Leola enjoyed her new role as homemaker and together with Elmer, raised four children on a farm five mile northeast of Palisade, NE. In 1989, Leola and Elmer moved to Palisade, where Leola resided until moving to Kearney.

Leola was baptized in the Blackwood Lutheran Church and a charter member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Palisade. She later attended, and was also a member of, the St. John's Lutheran Church in Culbertson.

Leola was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Alberts; son, Kirwin Alberts; brother, Art Wittwer; two sisters, Arletta Hunkins and Gladys Brandt; and twin sister, Leona Lawson.
