Gloria Cook Ellis, age 83, of Anderson, SC, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Rainey Hospice House.
Born August 3, 1938, in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Elliott C. Cook and Essie Lou Davis Cook. She was married to Johnie F. Ellis until his death in 1998.
Gloria was a beautician with Albert Smith Beauty Shop for over 40 years. She grew up at the Connie Maxwell Children's Home in Greenwood and remained faithful to that community. She was a volunteer with Anderson Interfaith Ministries (AIM) and enjoyed camping. Gloria was a member of the American Cancer Society and Sierra Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Rodney Ellis (Melanie) and Jeffrey Ellis (Jennifer) both of Anderson, SC; sisters, Mary E. McMichael of Anderson, SC, and Bettye Burns of Miramar, FL; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Megan Ellis; and brothers, William D. Cook and James E. Cook.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 12, 2022, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Stan Cole officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
